- I find it interesting that in Rocket Summer the author doesn't have to spell it out for the reader that the rocket summer has happened before and that the people are used to it.
- 'they had a house of crystal pillars on the planet of mars by the edge of an empty sea, and every morning you could see Mrs. K eating the golden fruits that grew from the crystal walls or cleaning the house with handfuls of magnetic dust which taking all dirt with it, blew away on the hot wind.' Wait one second, fruit that grow on walls? dust that cleans for you? how alien...
- The interaction between Mr. and Mrs. K is really stiff formal and strange, i cant put my finger on what it is exactly, but its believable and interesting.
- Phial is another word for vial? ok. '"here's your scarf" he handed her a phial...' scarf in a tube! i want one.
- What is at the blue mountains? its obviously not quite a retreat based on how they react to it.
- The way that Mr K reacts to her dreaming makes me believe that he knows something we dont.
- in the ampetheater, i dont understand why everyone freaks out at the song, its a normal song. im assuming it was sung in human though, and they freaked out.
- do Martians have telepathy? or are the humans somehow broadcasting their words and songs to them?
- ... and the very next chapter answers my question. yes, the Martians have telepathy
- The humans in this book are really dull! but then again i dont know what there would be to say at all after getting to Mars.
